Alltaf er það jafn flott ad sja hvaða ahrif bænin hefur a folk her a spitalanum. Vanalega þegar maður hefur beðið med folki og opnar svo augun þa litur folk svo miklu betur ut, hefur breyttan litarhatt og meira lif i augunum. Eg verð alltaf jafn hissa einhvernveginn. Reflective listening

Aðferðin sem við notum hér á spítalanum til að tala við fólk kallast Reflective listening. Þetta er frekar einföld aðferð í sjálfu sér en tekur tíma að venjast, því þetta er svo ólíkt því hvernig maður er vanur að tala við fólk. Aðferðin virkar nokkuð vel þegar við á og er ansi góð til að styðjast við og hjálpa fólki að komast í tengsl við tilfinningar sínar. Vanalega hittir maður á taug þegar maður miðar á erfiðustu tlfinningarnar sem manneskjan er að glíma við. Flestir fara að gráta og fá tækifæri til að tala um það sem erfiðast er í aðstæðunum. Okkar hlutverk er ekki að reyna að hressa fólk við heldur gefa þeim tækifæri til að tala um þjáninguna og sársaukann, því ekki margir aðrir eru reiðubúnir að tala um það.

Þeir sem vilja kynna sér þessa aðferð geta skoðað þessa síðu sem útskýrir þetta mjög vel.
